The Idea Born in Quarantine
During the lockdown, with the world at a standstill and work on hold, I decided to use my free time to put my technical skills into practice. This is how MaMangio.it was born, a food delivery platform designed to support local restaurateurs in Capo d’Orlando during a time when restrictions made traditional work impossible.
From Theory to Practice: Development in Three Days
Thanks to my experience as a PHP developer, I was able to build the site in just three days using WordPress. I customized plugins to manage orders and payments, creating a system tailored to local needs. The challenge was to offer an affordable, simple, and immediately functional solution for those who had never used food delivery services.
Immediate Success: The Memorable Phone Call
I vividly remember that call from Daniele Ventura of Smiley, one of the restaurants that had joined the platform. “Stop everything, I’m running out of sandwiches!” he told me, overwhelmed by the enormous amount of orders received thanks to MaMangio.it. It was a moment of joy during a difficult historical period, where seeing local restaurateurs return to work was a source of great satisfaction.
Return to Normalcy and the End of MaMangio.it
As the restrictions ended, MaMangio.it fulfilled its mission. I decided to close the project and return to my main activity as a digital strategist and content creator. Despite its short duration, this experience left a significant mark, expanding my professional network thanks to the media attention the project received.
Lessons Learned and Looking to the Future
MaMangio.it was not only a successful project but also an example of how creativity and technical skills can quickly respond to market needs, even in times of crisis. This experience reinforced my belief that digital can be a powerful ally in turning challenges into opportunities.
